Congratulations to the High School Class of 2019

We wish the graduates of the Class of 2019 continued success as they prepare for post-secondary school life.

On June 24, Mentor College bid farewell to the 2019 High School graduating class of 2019. At the annual commencement ceremony, 165 graduates crossed the stage to receive their high school diplomas. Class valedictorian Jeanette Wang represented the Class of 2019.

The top destinations for our 2019 graduates are University of Toronto (40), McMaster University (18), Queen's University (14), and Western University (14). In addition to universities across Ontario and throughout Canada, this year sees graduates heading off to international institutions like University of California - Los Angeles, University of Alabama, University College of Dublin, and University of Manchester.

In September, Class of 2019 graduates will be entering a broad range of fields - with the top three being business/economics (37), health/life/medical sciences (25), and engineering (19). Other fields include science, visual/performing art, humanities, law, journalism, and nursing.

Congratulations to all of our Class of 2019 graduates! Here are the major award winners:

Fred Sagel Citizenship Award: Charlotte Dorey

The winner is awarded $500 from the MTPA (Mentor TEAM Parent Association) in memory of Fred Sagel (Class of 1998). The award winner has been involved in community service associated with the school and various aspects of school life. The award winner had a positive attitude, solid grades, and many extra-curricular experiences.

Dr. Bhalla Science Achievement Award: Jeanette Wang

The award, donated by Dr. Bhalla goes to the student with the top academic average in all three Grade 12 science courses: Physics, Chemistry and Biology.

Nikhil Patel Scholarship: Ryan Molin

The winner receives $501 - donated by the Patel family in honour of their late son Nikhil, who graduated in 1997 from Mentor College.

Harleen Grewal Spirit Award: Chris Munro & Monique Munroe

$500.00 is awarded to two graduates who have been excellent ambassadors to the school. Their attitude and behaviour display the attributes of a positive role model in the Mentor College community.

Ahluwalia Medical Professional Corporation Sounds and Science Award: Tiffany Wu

This includes a $501 scholarship and is awarded to the top academic student who studies Chemistry, Physics, Biology, and Music. It celebrates the combination of musical talent and science.

MTPA Scholarship & Governor General's Medal: Jeanette Wang (Mentor) Moses McKeon (TSS) 

$500 and Governor General’s Medals are awarded to students with the highest average in all of their Grade 11 and 12 courses.
