The Mentor College High School Division welcomes students entering Grades 9-12. Steps in the entrance process can be adapted to suit individual needs.
Families considering the Mentor College High School programme often begin with an optional school tour at an open house event. If you are unable to attend one of our open houses, a time can be arranged with one of the high school principals. The tour highlights the academic features, extracurricular opportunities, and facilities that Mentor College offers and allows you to ask questions specific to your child.
To register for our Open House or Entrance Assessment dates or to arrange an alternate date please call the Main Campus at 905-271-3393.
The next step in the admission process is the submission of the prospective student's most recent report cards. Photocopies can be brought on the day of the assessment. A Confidential School Report also needs to be completed by a current teacher and submitted directly to Mentor College. Parents are also asked to pay the $200 assessment fee at this stage.
Prospective students must complete our entrance assessment - which consists of two components: mathematics and English. The mathematics section tests students on content at their current grade level. The English component tests spelling, reading comprehension, and writing. We have formal assessment days but individual dates and times can also be arranged.
This assessment is diagnostic in nature. It provides a snapshot of a student’s current academic ability and gives an admistrator the ability to determine where your son or daughter would fit in relation to our current students.
Once the above steps are complete, the admissions team will review all of the information and schedule a meeting with a prospective family. The assessment will be reviewed and, for successful applicants, an admission offer will be presented at that time.
