Mentor/TEAM Artists & Musicians Take Spotlight in 31st Festival of the Arts

Last week the school held its 31st annual Festival of the Arts! In this culminating event, Mentor/TEAM musicians and artists had the opportunity to share a year’s worth of skill, talent, and progress. Bands, ensembles, and choirs performed in O’Brien Hall while visual artists displayed their work in the halls and the East-Gym-turned-art-gallery.

MCs Amelia Johnson/Dominic Sobotka (Wednesday) and Quintina Liu/Shaan Jain (Thursday) entertained audiences with their charm and wit. On Wednesday, parents and guests were treated to performances by Grade 10 Concert Band, HS Wind Ensemble, Grade 9 Concert Band, Red Light District (HS Jazz Band), HS Choir, and HS Senior Concert Band. Thursday night saw the following groups perform: Intermediate Band, Primary Choir, Grade 5 Guitar Club, TEAM Jazz Band, Intermediate Grade 5/6 Choir, HS Wind Ensemble, Grade 6 Guitar Club, Intermediate Grade 7/8 Choir, TEAM Trashers, and Intermediate Jazz Band.

Drawings, paintings, prints, and sculptures by Grades 5 to 8 students were on display throughout the halls in the Intermediate Art Exhibition, as was work by Mentor Grades 10 and 11 artists. The HS Senior Art Show “Wonderland” took place in the East Gym. Several works by Grade 12 artists were available as silent auction items – with all proceeds going to VIBE Arts – a charitable arts organization that provides children and youth with high-quality arts education.
